About this report

ALPLA’s sixth Sustainability Report (hereinafter referred to as ‘the Report’) provides an overview of the company’s material environmental, social and economic performance during the 2023 and 2024 financial years. Notably, this marks the first year ALPLA has chosen to align its report with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), even though these standards will only become mandatory for ALPLA in 2028.

The Report encompasses all fully consolidated subsidiaries and ALPLA production facilities worldwide, including base and in-house as well as recycling plants. Where applicable, data from joint ventures has also been incorporated. However, certain datasets (including waste, HR, HSE and secondary packaging) exclude data from our operations in Russia because of accessibility issues following from the sanctions imposed due to the ongoing war in Ukraine. This approach ensures that the scope of sustainability reporting aligns as much as possible with ALPLA’s financial reporting boundaries, providing for consistency and comprehensiveness.

Due to its cross-functional nature, we initiated an internal project in 2022 to fully prepare for the mandatory reporting under the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). This project aimed to assess and mitigate the risks inherently associated with such an endeavour:

The degree to which ALPLA Group’s policies, actions and targets extend to its value chain is detailed within the sections covering the respective material topics. Furthermore, metrics incorporating value chain data are elaborated upon in the relevant sections. Finally, any uncertainty regarding the measurements in quantitative disclosures is also presented in the relevant sections.

While following the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), this Report also serves as a non-financial declaration under the Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD).
