- Sustainability Report 2023-2024
- General Information
- Sustainability governance
As a family-owned company, ALPLA boasts a streamlined sustainability governance structure which facilitates swift and efficient decision-making. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) holds ultimate responsibility for sustainability. However, given that sustainability is a cross-functional topic, other Management Board members, including the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Chief Operations Officer (COO) and Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), also share some responsibility. Thus, the entire Management Board is accountable for strategic planning and decision-making in relation to sustainability matters.
While various urgent aspects of sustainability are regularly addressed in Management Board meetings, there are two additional meetings each year dedicated solely to sustainability. These meetings include members of the Sustainability Steering Council, which comprises most board members (CEO, CFO, COO, CCO) along with other key colleagues relevant to the subject (Corporate Director of Supply Chain and Plant Engineering; Corporate Director of Strategy, Sustainability, and Circular Economy & Public Affairs; members of the Corporate Sustainability team).
The primary role of the Sustainability Steering Council is to approve all strategic documents. During the reporting period, these documents included ALPLA’s 2021–2022 Sustainability Report, its decarbonisation targets before submitting them for approval to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), the related 2030 Decarbonisation Road Map and targets set beyond decarbonisation as part of our Sustainability Statement. The Sustainability Steering Council is also updated twice a year on the progress made in various sustainability work streams, including on GHG emissions and decarbonisation initiatives, sustainability reporting (primarily internal preparations to ensure compliance with CSRD requirements) and ESG ratings (CDP and EcoVadis).
